"Before joining the "Navigating Ocular Melanoma" group sessions, I was feeling so overwhelmed and anxious about my future. But thanks to Dr. McCannel and the amazing support I received, my outlook has completely changed. The program gave me invaluable information and emotional reassurance when I needed it the most."
"Dr. McCannel’s kindness and expertise made such a huge difference in my journey. I'm so grateful for everything she and the program have done for me. Thank you, Dr. McCannel, for helping me through this challenging time."
“Thank you for hosting the Navigating Ocular Melanoma program. I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't know whether I would even benefit from it. I'm so glad that I participated. Your caring guidance through the various chapters was invaluable, as it gave me a roadmap to dealing with the many elements of my care and journey with OM. In addition to the medical aspects of OM, you educated me about the importance of a full mind/body approach. I feel more in control of my condition and now have tools to deal with the stress and anxiety around certain appointments that i didn't have before.”
"Taking the Navigating Ocular Melanoma course was one of the best decisions that I have made since my diagnosis. I have learned so much valuable information that has helped me become very knowledgeable on Ocular melanoma. Dr. Tara McCannel explains the many aspects about the rare cancer and provides you with tools to help you along your journey such as relaxation techniques, meditation, nutrition, and how to navigate the heathcare system to get the care you need. She is very caring and compassionate. She's always willing to answer all my questions and make me feel at ease. She's goes the extra miles. Since taking this course I feel confident on conquering Ocular melanoma."

This experience is designed to address all of that. Over the course of 4 weeks, we’ll meet live on Zoom, twice per week (Sunday 10AM PST and Wednesday 1PM PST), for a total of 8 hours together. During that time, you’ll gain more than just information—you’ll gain improved clarity and be able to access practical tools to use well beyond the end of the program.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
You’ll learn how to reduce anxiety and fear, especially around scan results and appointments.
You’ll have a space to ask questions, get clear answers, and feel supported—not just by me, but by others in the group who are walking this same path.
You’ll develop the skills to process challenging thoughts and emotions so they don’t have power over you.
And perhaps most importantly, you’ll walk away with a better plan for navigating the road ahead—so you can feel more prepared and live your best life.
You’ll have tools to help navigate uncertainty, manage anxiety, and help face the unknown with a stronger sense of clarity and confidence. You’ll have skills that you can apply to the rest of your health journey—and even other parts of your life.
